Establishing Professional Contacts and Expanding Resources

This week in an attempt to pick the brains of ECE professionals around the world, I sent an email to the Nairobi and Mena regional offices of Unicef and to Rev. Charles Nonoo and the Philippines office of the NAEYC Global Alliance.  Hopefully I will receive a response which indicates a willingness to open a line of dialogue.  If I do not receive response by Wednesday, I will begin the Alternative assignment.

After perusing the selection of websites for study I immediately focused on the National Black Child Development institute.  It is nice to be able to study my own people, since that is my first priority and the main population I work with.

  1. Hello Shahrazad,

I am looking forward to working with you over the coming 8 weeks of this course. I am facing a similar challenge as you in establishing contact. I am also going to give it until Tuesday or Wednesday before attempting the alternate assignment. If you discover any leads, please feel free to share as I will do the same. I noticed that a classmate of ours, Julie W., is using social networking to help establish contact also. I think it is a great option to keep in mind. :)

  3. Ugh, I do not want to do the alternative assignment I *like* the idea of sharing perspectives with people from outside the US in the field. But I also am having a hard time establishing contact. I am a part of BAT's also known as the Bad Ass Teachers Association it's supposed to be global but I have only noticed a couple of posters in the international group. Facebook is a good place to begin but I do not know if it will yield returns. Good luck with Unicef The branch in Australia shut me down pretty fast.
